Tournaments for young chess players 3

The tournaments on this page are made for children and teenagers. The Campeonato de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires for youth categories is played in November in separate sections such as Sub-12, Sub-14 and Sub-16, and its editions carry the initials of the Federación Metropolitana. The Argentine school championship, also called the school chess Olympiad, gathered categories from Sub-7 to Sub-17 at the Ajedrez Martelli club in Villa Martelli in July 2026, after a first edition at the Vicente López convention centre.

In the western conurbano, Moreno holds a rated tournament during the winter school holidays each July. Young players also enter open events; the Generación Z tournaments, for instance, included an under-19 blitz in February 2026. Age limits and entry conditions are those printed on each event's page, linked from the entry.
