Rated tournaments and opens in Buenos Aires 41

Tournament chess in Buenos Aires is mostly rated: clubs label their events IRT, and they appear on the international rating list. Torre Blanca in Almagro alone plays monthly opens, weekly blitz and rapid events and category championships, the Club Argentino de Ajedrez holds a monthly classical IRT, and Mariano Moreno in Coghlan runs seasonal opens, a Sunday tournament for players under 1800 and a blitz on the second Saturday of each month.

The federations add the bigger fixtures: the city youth and team championships, the Masters and the Open Ciudad de Buenos Aires, the senior championships and rounds of the Argentine championship. In the conurbano, Vicente López hosts the PRO-AM International Open each October, Tigre a Masters open in September, and the southern and western federations, FASGBA and FAOGBA, run circuits of their own. Dates on each entry are the ones its event pages give.
