About this list

A Buenos Aires chess club is usually one of two things. The círculos are rooms of their own where chess is the whole point: Torre Blanca in Almagro, the Club Argentino de Ajedrez on calle Paraguay in Recoleta, Mariano Moreno in Coghlan and the Villa del Parque club at the Centro Cívico Caracas all run a steady string of rated tournaments, and the last three of them also teach. The other kind is a chess section inside a football or social club, such as Huracán, Nueva Chicago, Ferro Carril Oeste or Independiente.

Beyond the city limits, Ajedrez Martelli in Villa Martelli holds weekly blitz and rapid evenings, the Círculo de Ajedrez de Villa Ballester opens from Tuesday to Saturday afternoons, Adrogué Jaque Club and Peón Libre in Luis Guillón run numbered rated series, and Ajedrez San Miguel and the Club Philidor in Morón add tournaments of their own. A few entries, such as ATSA or the Universidad de Palermo, are kept for members or students; where a page says who may come, the tile shows it.
